Rules of the Chatrooms


These are family-orientated chats. We have people of all ages in (including children) and people who are going through some tough times medically. With that in mind please observe the following rules:

1. Please do not change nicknames in the channel unless utterly necessary (as it can confuse new users who are not aware of how to track nickname changes). Changing from Kathy to Kathy-away etc. is perfectly acceptable.

2. USING ALL CAPS equals shouting and is hard to read. Please don't. Excessive use of all-capitals will result in an automatic temporary ban.

3. Limit sexual discussion. This is a family chat. While innuendo is okay to an extent, "cybering" is unacceptable. That includes "ASL". There will be no "picking up dates," no talking dirty or sexually suggestive talk to anyone in open chat whether the other person wants to talk that way or not, you will BOTH be banned immediately.

4. Do not send private messages to anyone (apart from the Ops) without first requesting permission from them to do so. Most people do not want to talk privately with people they do not know.

5. When you enter our chat, everyone will be treated with respect. We will not tolerate arguing, sarcasm or insults to anyone.

6. Automatic bans (i.e. they happen whether Ops are present or not) are in place to prevent certain insults and swear words. Please keep your language suitable for a family chat.

7. For safety reasons we advise that you do not give out personal information, this includes e-mail address, phone numbers, home address, postal box addresses until you are sure of the person you are giving them to. Use PMs to exchange this information. NOTICE: People under 18 years of age are not to give out any information at all.

8. If someone is in the chat causing problems, please do not add fuel to the fire by becoming involved. Allow the ops to deal with it. If no moderator is in the chat, please feel free to e-mail me and I will gladly take care of it. We want our chats to stay safe.
